Cooking real Italian food at home just got easier with Gourmio’s new Create Your Menu option

ITALIAN recipe box Gourmio has added a ‘Create Your Menu’ option to its home-delivery service. Customers can now choose from a selection of starters, main courses, sides and desserts.

Starters include Burrata, a speciality cheese dish from Puglia, and a delicious appetiser called the Sottoaceti Pickle Mix.

New main courses include a classic Italian Gnocchi con Gorgonzola e Noci and Linguine al Pesto Genovese. Desserts include traditional Sbrisolona cake from Mantua and a classic Italian dish of Pear, Parmigiano and Balsamic Essence.

Boxes include authentic ingredients and recipes straight from Italy as well as stories of artisans, such as Gino the salami maker

Gourmio has also introduced a new Meal Box with dishes pre-selected for you – each box includes its best-selling recipes from Italy’s Alps to the Mediterranean Sea. Main courses include delicious Brasato – braised beef in Barolo wine – and Linguine al Pesto Genovese, a vibrant green sauce made with basil, pine nuts, garlic, parmesan, pecorino and extra-virgin olive oil.

Gourmio is a convenient way for those who love to cook and eat Italian food but don’t have time to source hard-to-find, artisan ingredients and then cook from scratch. Gourmio’s chefs in Italy source fine, traditional ingredients from the 75,000 artisans and PDO* producers of Italy, and then design authentic, regional Italian recipes that can easily be recreated at home.

Gourmio founder Marco Sargiani said: “At Gourmio we marry Italian authenticity with wonderful recipes so you can cook and enjoy the real flavours of Italy at home. We hope food lovers will be as excited about the traditional food of Italy as we are about creating these dishes.”

Each Gourmio box contains beautifully packaged ingredients that look as if they’ve just been bought in a deli, along with easy step-by-step recipe cards and literature about the artisans and tradition behind each dish.

At Taste The Marches we’ve tried several Gourmio’s recipes and especially loved the Brasato beef pot roast from Piemonte with a starter of Patate con robiola di Roccaverano. Also highly recommend Burrata and the Linguine al Pesto Genovese.

Mr Pheasant’s bird-ict: I'm on the lookout for some summer recipes for the family and Monmouthshire Food Festival sounds the perfect place to look!

Mr Pheasant’s bird-ict: Bellissimo! What a great way to discover Italy’s traditional flavours and ingredients and to learn about its food history along the way
